Patient Satisfaction Survey Instrument Translated into Spanish For Use in ECT

Out on PubMed, from clinicians in Spain, is this article:

Cultural adaptation to Spanish of the “Patient Satisfaction Survey” to assess satisfaction with electroconvulsive therapy (ECT).

Urretavizcaya M, De Arriba-Arnau A, Caballero M, Bagney A, Bernardo M, Menchón JM, Rodriguez-Jimenez R.Actas Esp Psiquiatr. 2022 Jan;50(1):1-14. Epub 2022 Jan 1.PMID: 35103293

The abstract is copied below:
The degree of satisfaction of patients and their relatives with electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is considered an important treatment goal; however there is no scale in Spanish to quantify it. The aim of the study was to translate and adapt into Spanish the “Patient Satisfaction Survey” (PSS) for its use in patients and their relatives.

The article (in Spanish) is here.
This article details the translation and modification of the "Patient Satisfaction Survey" for Spanish ECT ("TEC") patients. The conclusion is that the end product is ready for clinical use; we look forward seeing publications about ECT in Spanish-speaking countries using this instrument. Thanks to these authors for this effort and their review of the ECT patient satisfaction literature.

On a separate note, Bill Regenold from the NIMH, has asked me to post this notice:

Dear ECT colleagues,

We at the Noninvasive Neuromodulation Unit at the National Institute of Mental Health invite you to participate in a survey of how ECT is currently practiced in the USA and abroad.  We intend to publish the results to increase awareness of and stimulate discussion about ECT practice. The survey was reviewed by the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Institutional Review Board (IRB) Operations which determined that it did not require IRB review or approval because it does not qualify as human subjects research. It is funded by NIH Intramural Research Program grant 1ZIAMH002955.   I hope you will consider participating in this anonymous survey that you can access through this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PZXKT7V .  If you practice ECT at a site with more than one practitioner, we request that only one survey is submitted per site. Many thanks for considering participating in the survey.  Feel free to share the link with ECT colleagues. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to me at  william.regenold@nih.gov
