ECT as a Model For Genetic Prediction of Treatment Response: Editorial in the American Journal of Psychiatry

Out on PubMed, from investigators in The Netherlands, in the American Journal of Psychiatry, is this editorial:

Proof-of-Principle Study on ECT Illustrates Challenges and Possible Merits of Using Polygenic Risk Scores to Predict Treatment Response in Psychiatry.

Rutten BPF, van Bronswijk SC.Am J Psychiatry. 2022 Nov 1;179(11):794-797. doi: 10.1176/appi.ajp.20220783.PMID: 36317336

The editorial is here.

And from the text:

Here is an editorial that accompanies the
Sigström article (please see blog post of October 4, 2022) in this issue. It is gratifying to see so clearly stated (in a top tier journal) that ECT is an optimal model for studying genetic prediction of treatment response. Most powerful treatment, in the most severely ill population.

Ned Kalin's editorial at the beginning of the issue also discusses (albeit briefly) the Sigström article.
